With less traffic due to Covid19 comes a rise in speeding, while at the same time many people have switched from public transport. Should government institute double demerit points for speeding in urban areas?

The rise in speeding associated with the drop in traffic has been documented in many cities. It’s appropriate now, in this public health emergency, that authorities do what they can to discourage speeding, and the resulting injuries and fatalities that ensue, especially since our hospitals are ill-equipped at the moment for any additional cases.

We call for double demerit points for the duration to discourage speeding.
