Pedestrian crossing

Do you think that there is something wrong with this picture? For me, a potential collision is imminent. Is the pedestrian crossing target practice for the drivers brake testing?

NSW road rule 81 deals with giving way at a pedestrian crossing. Despite the requirement that a driver must give way to any pedestrian on a pedestrian crossing, the requirement is that a driver when approaching a pedestrian crossing must drive at a speed at which the driver can, if necessary, stop safely before the crossing.

And if they can’t stop??

Drivers should be on the lookout for pedestrians, especially near and at crossings.

The pedestrian looks cheerful nevertheless.
