Transport for NSW has rolled out traffic-free road changes to support pedestrian safety in the CBD today for the boxing day sales.
As part of this one day arrangement, the newly opened L2 light rail will be closed from QVB to Circular Quay. L2 will only run between Randwick and Town Hall. (For those unfamiliar with the Light Rail, there is 1 block distance between the QVB and Town Hall stops.)
Decreasing traffic is a good plan, especially with the well known narrow width of the Market St footpaths. The road closures includes supporting safe pedestrian access to the Elizabeth St bus stops.
Even though lots more could be done, we thank Transport for NSW for acknowledging the importance of Movement & Place, and committing to small changes to support safer walking in Sydney CBD.
